I was cut from the U of North Dakota team. That was my sole reason for coming to this frigid state from Oregon, to swim. They have a good business school, and I met my gf here so I'm going to finish what I start. The coach specifically told me, "there are too many people on the team, you wont be able to imrpove." After thinking about it for more than a week or so, I wanted to know more but never persued(sp?) it. That was in fall of '02, and now, there are people that have quit because of the coach, and people who are still swimming that dont like him. I looked at times, and I could have placed with my high school times. That's why I want to get back into shape, I want to practice at the pool they practice at, where the coach could see me when I get back into shape and show him what he's missing out on. The guy that was slower was a junior. I was lapping him in practice. I would think that the coach would cut someone that slow. No girls got cut, me, and 3 other guys as far as I know. I'm sure that it is Title IX stuff. UND is a D.II school, despite people wanting them to move to D.I AA like NDSU. I hated the whole thing, I was only thinking about swimming to get into shape until I saw times yesterday that I could achieve and be a good masters level swimmer with a bit of training. I will keep my eyes peeled for a student led masters or workout group. Thanks for your help.
