when i was in florida last year i purchased a watch from wallmart.today at work i suddenly panicked when my watch was showing 3.25pm...i realised i only had a short time left to finish the job at work..when i told my collegues how little time we had left ..they looked surprised and told me that it was only 2.25pm
I am from uk so am i right when my watch has three letters also appeared on it "D S T"that this means daylight saving time in usa???is this the right time for my watch to correct itself??or has it done it prematurely as in uk we do not alter our time yet.....any help from across the pond appreciated....
hmmm... DST is different here than in the UK (I have to rely on my in-laws there to clue me in to adjust for time differences); maybe the date was set wrong??
Having said that, you DID buy the watch in Flori-dumb....

Several years ago I purchased a 50m ironman watch from a large chain store. I kind of hit the wall in backstroke (OK I was a very new swimmer and hadn't quite mastered the art of counting from the flags.) The face of the watch cracked.
On my next trip to the big city, I stopped in at the store to see how the warranty worked.
The sales clerk tottled over on mile high heels from the perfume counter (smelling like she had sampled them all). I explained my cracked face, and could I get a replacement. She studied the watch, looked up and asked "How far do you swim" MY eyes lit up, 'Another swimmer??' Oh, do you mean each workout, each week, each month etc? She thought about that then asked "Well each day". I said around 3500meters. She thought again and then said very seriously, "Oh I see the problem, you see this watch is only good for 50meters, you can only swim for 50meters with this in the water"
I explained that the 50m was down and my hand only went , well as long as my arm so I had a few meters to spare.
She was puzzled, handed me over another watch and I left.
I couldn't help but split a gut outside. How things are interpreted!!

I've been using a casio for many years. I've killed one when I guess I accidently hit the stop button while a little underwater. That's one thing they warn about--the gaskets are go for IN the water just not for being depressed while in the water. I've wrecked a couple of bands and have found that it is cheaper to replace the $21 watch than to buy a new band for $12! Plus the battery, if it needs to be changed, is about $5. So you can spend $17 refurbishing the watch or $21 for a brand new one!
i liked the 50m story too,by the way ive sorted my watch ..all i had to do was to keep 12/24h button depressed for a few seconds then it returned to normal time..i must have accidentally pressed it at work the other day...you live and learn!!!:eek:
I needed a wristwatch with a stopwatch that didn't make noise (long story), so I ended up with a Timex Ironman. I haven't owned a Timex in years because they usually can't stand up to the envelope of bent time I carry around me (another long story) and they usually quit after a couple of months of speeding up and slowing down and generally NOT keeping time.
This Ironman, however, has turned out to be a great swimming watch, even though I didn't buy it for that purpose. Since it's an analog watch, you can set the stopwatch with the pace clock and not have to worry when the guy standing on deck teaching adult swimming lessons in the far lane won't stop blocking your view of the clock with his massive girth. I've had it for a couple of years now, and it seems to be able to keep time even on my wrist. It's also taken a couple of good dings without leaking.
If I could only convince my pager, computers and the wall clock in my office to keep time when I'm around them, I would be in business.
