I would like to know how most of you care for your suits? I have two speedo suits and after my swim I rinse out with water and hang to dry. Should I be washing it once in a while or just rinsing with regular water okay to do? Thanks =)

every few wearings in Woolite. Some of the suit manufacturers make special washes for their suits.
All suits "die" no matter what you do if they have spandex and lycra.
Line drying is the only way to go. I spin mine dry in a special suit spinner at the pool but I don't know if it is hurting the lifespan of the suit. Then it goes on the line at home. Anyone know if the spinning in a suit spinner shortens the lifespan of the suit?
I think that the spin dryer shortens the life of the suit, just a little though- no matter how you look at it, the chlorine and sun is just gonna kill your suits! I find myself ordering grab bag suits, on average, every six- eight weeks...
I just hang mine up when I get home - usually between 5 and 8 hours after I finish my swim. The suit is rolled up in a ball in my bag until then. I have had the same suit for about 60 one hour workouts and the color is fading, but still seems to be in good shape otherwise. Of course, it doesn't fit as snug as when it was new. I keep telling myself that it's because I have lost weight.:D But it is probably just stretching.

I think lycra suits suck for practice. They wear out too quick. I always use either nylon or polyester.
Probably a good idea to throw 'em in the washing machine every once in a while. I do it rarely, though.
Actually, I accidently dumped mine in the washer once (got caught up in my swim towel) and when I took it out, it was DEAD! Like, if I wore it, everyone would know my business kinda dead... wouldn't recommend machine washing suits....

Tyr's Durafast line of suits are FANTASTIC. They fit well, run fast in the water and wear like iron. Care is minimal as well - rinse in cold water after use and let air dry. I have had 3 suits (about $31.00 each) in 2 years. 2 of the suits are still usable and the third only died because I cut it on the rough concrete on the edge of a pool. If you get a Durafast suit and do Open Water races, don't get a light color on the suit - it retains dirt and never really washes out completely, so it looks awful.

Grab bag suits are kind of fun - opening them is a bit like Christmas. And if I get a really bad one I can always wear it at 6 AM when nobody is awake yet. :) Actually I haven't gotten a real bad one yet.
