I have been really good and taking time off my 500....except for today...I Was extremely slow. My other times were from a colder pool than the one I swam in today which was rather warm. Does the water temperature matter this much...I could have had an off day but alot of people on my team also had slower times in the same pool. Whats the ideal water temperature?

I would say that it makes a difference, at least for me. I was in Germany for 9 months; the indoor pools there are kept very warm, as they're used mainly by old ladies (who don't know anything about proper lane usage, but that's another issue). I had to finally give up on swimming indoors; I would get headaches from the heat, and be panting after a few laps. I just arrived at my college, where the water is kept on the cooler side. The change in my speed is just incredible. Of course, part of that comes from not having to weave my way from one side of the pool to the other. :)
