will spring ever return,im sick of dark morning/evenings
  • Ah, but that is what makes the winter season so much fun! I'm thinking (way) back to high school, when it was dark in the morning, dim grey in the afternoon (on the way to the pool), and dark when we left after practice. Then two weeks before sectionals (around Easter time), taper starts. School is off for a week, late morning practices that always had bright sunshine, and the sound of melting icicles! Spring arrives just at the right time to give that little extra psychological boost for the big meet.

I swam at the Forge Pond at the Worlds in '96. Great pool. One of the most organize meets I have ever race in. Please provide a link when the results are in. If Mike Wake is there, give him my best. Thanks.

If Mike Wake is there, give him my best. Thanks. Ian here is the link to the swim club that is running the meet on Saturday, www.rotherham-metro.co.uk/ . I will send one direct to the results when it is up. I am looking to go under 30 seconds for 50 meters free this weekend for the first time in 24 years! Paul
  • I love these dark winter evenings- its easy to get the kids in bed then a good book, glass of wine and and evening on the couch with my sweetie. And we are supposed to get some snow tonight!

Man, the pool where I swim has floor to ceiling windows. When it's cold and gray, it just shivers me to the bone while in the pool. Lately i've been trying not to look outside. One thing that's fun is getting in the pool while day light and leaving in the dark--makes me feel like I've really worked (even if it's only been an hour and a half) ;) Jerrys

Give me the longer days, anytime. It's always harder to get up in the pitch black (when it's cold as h@ll) to feed the horses in the AM, then work, swim, and then it's dark again (and getting colder) and time to clean stalls and feed the horses in the PM. By then it's maybe 8 PM, but it feels like 11 PM, dinner isn't made, other chores aren't done and the cats are in royally snotty moods since they are hungry and have had no attention since 5:30 AM. On the other hand, on a bitterly cold, cloudless AM, the stars are brilliant and Venus is at its best; the horses nicker sleepily at approaching footsteps and Elsa, the barn cat, usually waits at the barn doorway proudly showing off the latest mouse that she's killed. It could be worse... -LBJ
