I pay 2.40 english pounds per swim(about 4$)plus petrol to get there(2.5 english miles)all this adds up to about 10 pounds....about $15 per week..not too much but all adds up over the years

and $10/ season at the City of Chicago pools (1 fee, go anywhere) totals about $30/ year ... summers are free.
