My YMCA, which I've whined about too much on here already, costs $85 per month and had a $100 joining fee. For that, I get to share a lane with three or four other people in a 6 lane 25m pool that smells like fried chicken. I was touring the business school at the University of Pennsylvania the other day and realized the building across the street from it looked suspiciously like it housed a pool. So I dropped in there to find out what to expect to shell out to keep my body on par with my mind, and it's only $206 per year. I don't know what their pool schedule is like or how crowded it gets, but it was a 50m pool with a movable bulkhead splitting it in half. What's more, there's another pool on campus that I didn't get a chance to see, which has a different schedule. Of course, the fee should be included in that crazy tuition payment, but at least it's not as high as the YMCA.
