Hi Other Mark! After reading some of Shaky's (lol) posts on swimming at the Y, I get a mental image of him swimming in a Hammer-film fog-shrouded swamp, being stalked by the Loch Ness monster & the Creature from the Black Lagoon. (I have not been traumatized by water aerobics the way others have, so I didn't want to bring that up. ;) )
Hi Mark ... I know what you mean about the Y. Glad that you have been spared being traumatized by the water aerobies ... God bless 'em for trying, though.
Just remember how a dog barks with a hair lip ... Mark! Mark!
Tom ... I 'spose you are just being very punny today. :D
Now here's an idea for 2004 indy Nationals ... talent night? Sheesh!
Well, my swimming is making me tired. I feel its not worth the effort since I'm tired and sore alot sometimes. When you read how some people in Swim Magazine can swim so much yardage at top speeds and you can barely do 3,000 yards in a day going moderate to some speed work without feeling sore and tired later.

The key is that, for those swimmers, it is not *their* top speed.
My pet peeve is when the faster swimmers start reducing the interval for sets. If the rest is long, I can always speed up my swim (to take advantage of the extra recovery). If the rest is too short, all it does is train me to swim exhausted at 3/4 speed.
