i was just wondering how many posts make an active member a very active member??and what lies beyond or what should lie beyond very active member.....maybe something like phsycotic member???at 500+posts??
Frank and Peter touched a bit of why people respond to Tom, but I wanted to throw in my 2 cents. I've never met Tom personally, but I've learned enough to want him to stick around.
A while ago, I started an (off-topic) thread celebrating Tom's sense of humor (or maybe it was Mr. Moose). I thnk it was entertaining, but after a time, Tom mentioned it was a little more attention than he was comfortable with. Having a measure of humility is one reason why people want to defend him, because (normally) Tom would rather be quiet than raise a fuss.

All, thank you very much for the kind words....but I'm not comfortable with all this attention....I am simply another guy out here banging away...
Or maybe it is because Tom is too busy celebrating being able to swim today, rather than advertising how past events have limited his swimming speed (like some other poster has done).
