I've joined my company gym last week and now need to know some good work outs and what muscle groups to work on so I can get better. I know nothing about weight lifting at all, but we do have trainers who will help. However, they will probably know little about the types of workouts for swimmers and since I am working out to get better a swimming I should know what to have them help me with.
I do all the strokes, with my back being the worst probably, unless you count the 200 fly which I can not do fully and would like to be able to do. I'm also an IMer both 200 and 400 so I am looking to be stronger at all the strokes. Any advice I can get is gladly taken.
I remember Swim magazine had an article regarding strength training last year.
Here is what I found off the internet.

By J.R. Rosania. As we grow older, we need to consider adding strength training to our overall program rather than swimming longer or harder. Strength training will not only make you stronger, but it will increase your lean muscle mass, and help you swim faster as well.
