Lately, I've heard that the karate chop (thumb above) hand entry is now the preferred method over the thumb below method? Utilizing this method, I seem to get more torso rotation in the stroke. Anyone using this entry please confirm?

Yeap! My triathlete friend just stopped using the thumb first technique few weeks ago, and her chronic shoulder pain went away! She says it must be because she went from thumb first to flat hand entry. We tried some stroke drills to feel the difference between the thumb first and flat antry, thiumb first produces mpore stress on the shoulder, especially if you happen to under rotate your body. Than you really need to tweak your shoulders and arm to get in thumb first. Well, that's our 2c worth of unscientific observations.
