Lately, I've heard that the karate chop (thumb above) hand entry is now the preferred method over the thumb below method? Utilizing this method, I seem to get more torso rotation in the stroke. Anyone using this entry please confirm?
The main purpose of the pinky first entry is to save your shoulder from injury. Externally rotating your hand when your arm is overhead is generally bad news.
What it might do to one's rotation I can't say. I use a flat entry.
