Conditioner for dead hair?

After reading Tom Ellison's brilliant discussion on VO2Max and hair cair :D , I am wondering what people are using to keep their hair from becoming straw. I did a search of threads, but they were either green hair or dry skin, not quite what I'm looking for. Wearing a cap during practice is impractical. I've been hit in the head a few too many times, so the cap isn't large enough to stay on. :p I'm guessing that most people will recommend UltraSwim or MalibuC (those were stocked at the local Kiefers). What I'm wondering is, are there any good products I would find in the *supermarket*. I saw a lot of products. Unfortunately, the packaging wasn't very, uh, manly.

I have swam for many years and much to my own disgust I have not found a single really good product to make my hair silky again. The best thing I've got going right now is to make sure my hair is totally wet before I get into the poor and to put a generous amount of conditioner in my hair before I put the cap on. I hate to wear the caps but it really does make a difference! Much luck to you and your quest. :)
