Ok - Here is a contest. USMS Executive and Marketing Committees are excluded here and anybody else that has inside information before the Ad was aired. Alright who are the five USMS swimmers that are in the ad. I know of two, the first and last person. Joan Diercks is the one that wants to keep up with her grandchildren and Ed Shea swims because he has a lot to live for. I could be wrong on these two but they are from my zone and I see them a lot at meets so I pretty sure its them.
The other 3 I have no clue. That is the guy that swims so he can have energy to keep up the day. The women that swims for many friendships. The guy that found out after college that he loves to compete. Also in the other ad where they show all of the aquatic sports, who is the women swimming breastroke. As a bonus question almost always they show that Chevy truck ad with the Scottish music and the horses and dogs running around. Who does the narration. Is it James Garner or Tom Lee Jones or sombody else.
Whoever answers all of these questions correctly I will buy a drink at Nationals or the USAS Convention. Good Luck everyone.
Skip, I recognized the same two swimmers you did, and probably for the same reason (we're all in the same zone). I think the guy who still enjoys competition after college looks like Jeff Rouse, the Olympic backstroker, but I'm not sure it's him.
The narrator of the Chevy commercials is DEFINITELY James Garner. Someone asked that question in a column in our local newspaper. And speaking of narrators, did I recognize the golden tones of the incomparable Mel Goldstein narrating the USMS commercial?
I know who was the lady breaststroker, as we have been discussing it on our team's chat board. (Deb was wearing a Wave's cap, 'cause it was just before she got her Illinois Master's cap.)
Any chance that the Powers-That-Be could put the ad (in Quicktime, please) on this web site? This would be for lame-ohs (like myself) who don't have cable...

Mark, the lady breastroker could someone get a last name. Deb ? from Illinois Masters. Meg your right about foxwood farms ad and that is James Garner. They showed that everytime after the USMS masters ad. The guy that likes to compete looks like Jeff Rouse but I don't know if he swims masters or his in the medical profession because it looks like this guy is. I know Jeff is trying to make a comeback in swimming and has been swimming at the big USA swim meets. Jim, I don't think that is Ion Beza wearing disguises. I don't want to say anything here because he is being pounced on in the other threads namely the World Championships Swimming one.
Ok contest over. It looks like Meg won since she answered the question correctly. So I will buy you a drink of your choice before the Awards banquet at USAS convention. Ok so who are the other 3 swimmers? Assuming that we had two of them correct and one maybe half correct. Could someone from Executive or Marketing give us the answer. I have a VHS copy of the whole meet that I plan on bringing with me to San Diego to be viewed in the hospitality suite just like last years Nationals that were in Ft. Lauderdale.
