Hey does anyone know where to buy suits online that aren't $80. Preferably like 30 and under, I know there are some good sites out there b/c people have told me about them before but I just can't find them! Thanks, Whitney

I also like the Victor grab bag suits alot. Another couple good options I've found are 1) Kiefer housebrand Powerback suits, www.kiefer.com They are $24 and last pretty well. And 2) Arena sells suits at their outlet link from www.teamarena.com/ and the polyester ones last like crazy so your $32 goes a long way. Good Luck!

Alot of people like lycra based suits for racing as they fit very tightly. However, from what I hear, the polyester suits last longer and don't "die" so would be better for training and daily swims. I can "kill" a lycra based suit in about 9 months of swimming. I get about 3 months of summer swimming (daily) and another 4-6 months of indoor swimming (3-4x a week). That's with rinsing it after every swim and washing it with woolite (by hand) every few wearings. Line dry only!

Thanks for all the links. I was just wondering which kind of suit would be best to train/race in. Is polyester or lycra better and which holds up longers?

Hey Pink, There have been lots of previous posts re: this subject. Try exploring the Search function too. :)
  • Lycra suits are great, for a short time. I generally wear one out in about two months of swimming. They tend to wear out quite dramatically all at once. I bought a Speedo nylon mesh drag suit and it is indestructible. I've had it for over a year and looks like the day I got it.

I happened to waddle into my local Sports Authority on Saturday and they were having a great sale on suits- i picked up two Adidas suits for 22.50 each... other brands were on sale also (up to 60% off). And no, I don't get a commission!! :) peace...
