My regular workout distance is 2400 meters. The week before a meet, I swim 2400 m. on Monday, 2200m. on Tuesday, 2100m. on Weds., 2000m. on Thursday, 1800m. on Friday, for a Saturday meet. If it's a Sunday meet, I go 1600m. on Saturday. Mon. through Weds., I include quality routines, but the rest of the week I ease up. I continue to work with weights up to three days prior to a meet (NOT tapering weights). This regimen has worked well for me. (I am in my 33rd year of master's swimming).
