Hi,
This does not have much to do with swimming, but I was just wondering how people come up with their handles (your alias that you use for your name). Do you have a specific meaning or did somebody just give you this nickname?
Mine was given partially tot me by my brother-in-law, who thought that hans was a Dutch name (i am Dutch) and I like James bond, although he is a bad swimmer...
Hans, My online name is just a nickname I was given as a teen. Even folks who do not know it often right after meeting me call me Gil. Also, want to let you know that I am married to a great gal from Moon Township. She lived in Carnot. Small world!
It IS a small world. I worked in laineybug's home town occasionally in my younger days. City of Roses.
Mine's somewhat complicated. Shaky is shortened from Shaky & Blue, the name I use on a couple of other message boards pertaining to my job in television.
I'm a news photographer. If the cameras we use are not operated properly, they can give you blue video, which looks terrible on television. Shaky video is generally frowned upon as well, since steady video is easier to watch.
You WANT steady video that is the correct color. Being something of a smartass, I named myself the exact opposite: Shaky & Blue. When I registered here I just shortened it to Shaky.
My job is actually the reason I started swimming again after a 15 year layoff. Back problems are a common complaint in my craft, since the weight of the camera ends up unbalanced on one shoulder. I was starting to have minor upper back problems, particularly in my right shoulder and neck; but swimming pulls everything back the way it's supposed to be and actually makes my camerawork less shaky.
Maybe I should change my name.
Well Shakey, when did you live in Thomasville? I'm not a native. Have only been here about 10 years. I grew up on St. Simons Island... ever heard of that?
All 18,000 of the rose bushes are beginning to come out... the Rose Festival, when they will be in full bloom, will be the the third or fourth week of April. Yall come and enjoy all of the activities that week; swim at our Y and convience the powers that be that a Masters team is a good idea... hey as part of Rose Festival week a local Masters team could host a meet... "Swim for the Roses." LOL

Well, "Ex-Runner" should be self-explanatory. Actually, there's a bit more to it. Yes, a lifetime of running injuries accumulated to the point that at age 38 I had to give it up for good. Several months ago I started swimming for exercise, having never (really) swum before. The nice person in the next lane, apparently noticing my wretchedly poor technique, remarked "You must be an ex-runner." At that moment I resolved to do something about it and joined USMS.
I have a Searay boat, small, and my name is Paul. Everyone that knows me well is aware of my lust for boating and swimming. People who know boating recognize the Searay name and then they also have my name.
Have a great day
Paul
My handle is easy, the only stroke I really do well is breaststroke.
My car plate says 200 BRST, back from the days when I was a masters all american in the 200 meter ***. I get kidded I need to change it to 50 BRST as that is about all I can do now. Maybe even 25 BRST! There are a few handles on butterfly and there is FastION.
We all are in this for the enjoyment and fun, so our handles reflect this.
