In order for a 1650 to be considered for possible Top 10 ranking, does it have to be swum within the context of a USMS-sanctioned meet? The reason I ask is that there is a 1650 meet next weekend here in Pittsburgh, at the Carnegie Mellon University pool, a wonderful facility that is used in collegiate swimming meets and I am sure meets all the requirements (i.e, exactly 25 yards, right depth, etc.) that are necessary for USMS sanctioning.
This said, however, I am pretty sure this is not a USMS certified meet. Does this mean that any times--even if proven accurate via an electronic timing system--won't count for Top 10 consideration?
If there is some way to get this meet to "count"--can someone out there let me know what hoops I need to jump through to submit my time?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks, Jim. I will send out an email to some of the more knowledgable fellows associated with this 1650 meet and see what can happen. On another note, I'd like to submit my 1 hour postal swim results, also from the great CMU pool. I sent in my registration form and money to the new LMSC guy back in the fall, I am pretty sure, but I have yet to get my new card. I emailed this fellow and he wrote me back saying he thinks he has my materials but is still getting used to the new computer system, and it may be several weeks before I can get my 2003 card. I emailed him back and asked him to hurry so I could send in the postal meet, but he never wrote back. Any suggestions on this front as well?
Thanks again for the info regarding the 1650. Do you know any people in these parts who could be a certified, sanctioned, or otherwise kosher-stamped observer?
