nutrition drinks

I am looking for a suggestions on nutritional suppliments after my workouts. High carbo, High protein? I swim in the morning 3 days/wk, weights 2 days/wk. I eat a whole grain cereal before my workout. Does anyone suggest one of those protein or cabo drinks that are highly advertised, I never trust those adds. I was thinking some sort of protein supplement, but I don't need to bulk up my muscles, as I am a swimmer not a muscle head. I just want some sort of muscle recovery supplement. I go straight to work after my workouts, so I need something "on the go". Any suggestions?

I think that they changed the taste of Accelerade since I originally posted and I have to agree that I'm not wild about the taste. However, it still works well. My subjective ranking of the flavors: Orange (yucky), Lemon-lime (very yucky), fruit punch (vomit). Maybe they should make it in "raw pork fat" flavor - it couldn't be much worse than the fruit punch. Several things: 1) I have found that if I am swimming for 2 or more hours - racing or training - that mixing 3 scoops Accelerade and 1 part Gu tri-berry gel in 48 oz of water works better than Accelerade alone and it also tastes better (less sweet and it cuts the weird flavor). I've modestly dubbed this "Jansenade." 2) You can get Accelerade pre-mixed in the local grocery store - at least you can in my area. However, it is not the same formulation as the powder and I don't think it works as well, but it is better than anything else I've tried off the grocery shelf if you are stuck without the powder. 3) If you are adventurous, you can look up the patent for Accelerade on-line (You just need the patent #), figure out the ingredients/amounts and make your own for experimental purposes. (This is NOT illegal as long as you don't sell it.) I did this awhile back and it worked well, cost much less, but it was a pain getting some of the ingredients. Is this the only post today that didn't mention Chuck Norris? Oooops.... -LBJ
