Tom--
I don't seem to have the same raw speed I had when I was younger. I do think my form is better now, plus the body suit also seems to help me--possibly by compacting my middle aged body into a facsimile of its younger self, i.e., back when muscles themselves girdled me into a cylinder! Now I need suit technology to do so.
Anyhow, I have read that the best marathoners are in their 30s; and the best sprinters (in running, at least) tend to be a lot younger. Perhaps the fast twitch muscles go more quickly with age than the slow twitch.
Not sure what else I can make of the results of this poll so far.
I swam it all as a kid....but LIKED sprints the best.
Now...due to replaced right hip...(cannot get off the blocks as fast the comp) I am a distance guy. I can hide the slow start in the 1650/1500....I cannot do that in the 50/100200's...Not enough time to make it up.
Kindest regards
Tom Ellison
Jim:
A lot more then fast twitch muscles have slid past the way side with my old age...Gosh, add hair, memory....and a bunch of other stuff...Oh, I forgot, we were talking about swimming....
:D
Kindest regards,
Tom

Hey Alecia,
If you are new to this, then welcome! If not, welcome anyway! But, remember, it's not a question of "the right thing to do," rather, it's what is comfortable for you. If you like doing all of these, then the better for you.
Cheers!
