I'm a runner and cyclist who Just started swimming. I am absolutely loving getting into swimming. The challenge of working on my stroke and just about everything about swim...except...the goggle marks. I'm goign to be 42 next week and ALREADY have dark circles around my eyes! What can I do about this I look like a freak for at least a couple of hours after taking the goggles off...I can not go into work meetings like this. Any ideas?
Have you tried different goggles? I like the large lenses with the foam gasket, as it fits around the eye socket. Other people like the smaller lens, which is tighter around the eye. You can also try the PVC gasket, or swedish goggles. I've also seen ads for a more scuba-diving-like mask/goggle.
The other question is, how tight is your goggle strap? (I know a swimmer who makes it as tight as possible so it doesn't leak, and she always has circles after the practice.) With the nose strap adjusted and the right goggle, you should able to squeeze the goggle around your eyes, and have it stick there without using the strap (on land). Then make the strap just tight enough so it doesn't leak while you are swimming.
