Read the new Swim Magazine. It has an article that tells u what u need to know about front quadrant swimming and even pics to go along with the article.
In looking at the photos in SWIM I would think that the initial position of the pull would be hard on the shoulders. I experimented with it today in the pool and definitely felt some strain as I dropped the hand into position. Maybe you have to build up some additional flexibility? Anybody else doing this Xtreme freestyle?
I'm not trying it, when I was young my father stated that I had a pull like Bruce Furness. Unfortunely, I was far from the freestyler he was. Now I try to get bye.
I have been trying to use this method for a while now. I don't find it hard on my shoulders but where I really feel it is in the elbows. Medial epicondolitis is what happens to me when I work really hard at pulling the water thru with the forearms. It's a great feeling to feel the surge it gives u when pulling with ur whole upper body and the glide u get. It takes allot of practice and strengh in ur shoulders and back and arms to do it rite.
