For me, it's now going on four weeks since my last swim. We were in Turks and Caicos March 7-14 for spring break where I was doing daily open-water swims along the beach. My last swim was a 3-miler on March 13. When we got back to the U.S., we had to go into mandated 14-day quarantine so I wasn't able to get out to go to the pool before they all closed. Who knows when I'll swim again...either open-water warming up (I live in RI), or pools opening again. I am maintaining fitness with bike rides, and a run here and there. And I know I there is other 'dry land' training I could be doing. But my concern when returning to the water is injuring myself because of doing TMTS. I'm just that kind of athlete. Raise you're hand if you think you're a candidate for a TMTS injury too.

Regarding pools on military installations...
I'm retired Navy, and my regular pool is at the nearby Navy base (NAVSTA Newport, RI). I also lifeguard there on a part time/on-call basis and have been part of the planning meetings for reopening. The pool (and the adjacent fitness facility) only just (re)opened late last week...phase 1 in the multi-phase reopening plan. I can't speak for other pool/gym facilities in other states around DoD...but phase one permits only active duty troops to use the facility on a scheduled reservation basis only. You can't just show up and use the facility like we could pre-pandemic. Although DoD is setting their own guidelines for their facilities that don't necessarily align with local state/municipal guidelines. Following phase 1, phases will include DoD civilians; then military family members; and ultimately military retirees in the final phase...whenever that is. The problem with the phases is that they can't predict when they'll be able to move from one phase to the next. And of course the pool (and gym) will be limited to the number of patrons permitted in at any one time, and also will limit the amount of time patrons are allowed in. I'm mostly a long-distance swimmer and have been in the open waters since they warmed up in the spring. My concern is that our facility won't be able to progress to the last phase (that permits us retirees to swim) until later this year...well after the open water has become too cold to swim in. As a lifeguard staff member, I 'could' get access to the pool for "lifeguard proficiency training." But in reality I don't really want to 'buck' the system, and potentially keep an active duty member from getting in their fitness. I'm just hoping we'll be able to open fully by the fall.

I need to set up the gopro to see whatâ€s up to speed, or how sloppy I hopefully havenâ€t become. After all, swimming is 90% technical.
Anyhow, back in March, just as my shoulder truly felt close to fully recovered from surgery, this microbiological thing happens everywhere. Got eyes set on a SCM meet in Dec
Can I just ask about the Go Pro - are you wearing on your forehead, or setting it up at the end of the pool, or what? I have a very under utilized Go Pro, and often wish I could watch myself underwater....
Monday is 50m day.
Last week - about 40.0sec.
Today - about 38.5sec.
Precovid PR - about 36.0sec.
After 4+ weeks of swimming I am at least in the same ballpark that I used to be in.
You are getting there

Hi,
I just attach it to an aluminum plate and place it at the other end on the bottom. I only get a few strokes of swimming footage within quality of analytical use, but itâ€s enough to see whatâ€s going on (lately my br kick is messed up). I found either 1440 60 linear or 960 120 wide works best (hero7). For above water view, if you have a helping hand it is best to have them walk along side of pool at same pace.
Now on the rare occasion I get to swim over pristine tropical reefs (increasingly rare now for many reasons) and local lakes I do have a setup I use where I attach my camera to my center mount snorkel to view the experience itself. Unfortunately, last years camera/snorkel setup is about 300†UW at bottom of lake Jocassee

Some counties in Oregon have opened their pools. My county and the surrounding areas have not. I am a little fed up with people. 1 month age almost everyone I saw wore masks and politely social distanced. Cases of covid went down and some counties experimented with a little freedom and suddenly I am one of about 20% of the people I see wearing a mask. Today Oregon had our largest number of cases so far and it is just going up. If everyone kept wearing a mask and social distancing we would be opening faster and making progress, instead we are going the wrong direction.
Our State was one of the hardest hit in March/April and our numbers are way down now. (I believe almost 50% of our cases were nursing home related). Our Governor has just finally opened outdoor pools, but so far, only a few have opened, with reserve times for current members only. The facility I was a member of for years is opening only to rent out for swim teams, not members. Gyms with indoor pools are not opening yet. So frustrating, since we've been very low in numbers since end of May. By the time the Gov. opens gyms/pools, Fall will be here, and as predicted, cases may go up again.
