Is 53 seconds OK for the 50 yard freestyle at age 71. Old hippie swimmer asks. You would rank #213 of 219 swimmers in your age group. Keep this in mind though: One third of all adults can't even swim half that distance, so you are already ahead of them! :banana:

I like to think of it this way: if you go and pull the nearest 100 random guys your age off the street, you'll probably beat them all.

You go into a random gym/health club with a pool, that's still faster than the overwhelming majority of lap swimmers, regardless of age.
