Usually I swim in a 20yd pool because it's the only one in my town. Visiting family in MI & was able to use a "normal" 25 yard pool today. Felt so much better! Can't wait for tomorrow.
My first two years of high school when I lived in northern Illinois my high school team would go to a pentathlon meet in Ottawa, IL. It was in this dinky 20y pool with tiny lanes that looked like it was put on as an afterthought when the school redid their cafeteria. But it was such a fun meet because you could only take 4 guys per team, so everybody was kind of jostling through the season to have the best combo of events to go.
And actually, now I see that you are located in Rockford... I was from Byron in that time.

I just finished writing a "Swimmer Profile" feature for our LMSC newsletter. Here is an excerpt about my subject's high school pool:
Try to imagine this scene where Ted swam on his high school co-ed swim team: “It was at this old YMCA that was probably built in the 20’s, 30’s or 40’s. It was in a basement, and it was a 17-yard pool. It had a ceiling that if you stuck your hand up, you could touch it. It was probably about three normal lanes wide. There was never a meet in it, because you couldn’t do it,” he said, adding that back in those days, the older men used to swim naked at those old YMCA pools, and they shared the pool with the co-ed swim team.
:afraid:
I am happy that the squad which I train in moves to my favourite unheated university pool starting from today.
But I am also unhappy that the temperature of that pool has already got to a very warm 25°C, compared to 21°C in the beginning of March.
25C is not "very warm" for a pool.
