Cleveland rendezvous, possible beer

I feel I know many of you frequent forum contributors even though I've never actually laid eyes upon you; along these lines, I'm wondering if maybe we could arrange a Long Course Nationals get-together, perhaps raise a cup of grog so that when we correspond via this forum in the future, we'll actually be able to put a face to the words we are reading (and which I personally have found so helpful about all things swimming). I signed up for the meet via the online registration process, incredibly easy, by the way; unless something unforeseen occurs between now and August 15th, I plan to be in Cleveland along with some of my teammates from Sewickley, PA (we'll be swimming for Allegheny Mountain Associations Masters). Anyhow, if anyone out there is up for it, perhaps we could decide upon a rendezvous spot poolside, then go out for a beer when the day's events are over. Hope to meet some of you guys.

  • Guys, I just got back from Ocean City, NJ and am glad to see I will be able to meet some of the freqent posters in Cleveland, including Ion (a legend in the forum world) and Matt S. (ditto) and Ian (a somewhat less frequent but no less worthy poster in his own right.) Sorry about Phil and Tall Paul, but perhaps we will reconnoiter at some future meet. Due to a quirk in the USMS rules, I get to swim as a 50 year old, even though I am not yet technically 50, so I am hoping to get my first ever top 10 finish in something. I suspect it might make sense to have our goblets of grog later, rather than earlier, in the meet progression00maybe Friday or Saturday or even Sunday. Anyhow, I look forward greatly to meeting one and all. You can probably recognize me--I will be the one gasping for breath at the conclusion of every event I enter, perhaps being assisted out of the water and administered aspirin to prevent thrombosis. Laura, your suggestion for a beer emporium sounds great. I understand that when taken with aspirin, the thrombosis-thwarting effects of beer are quite powerful indeed. Jim
