I have the NASM certification and am working on the weight loss specialization, with the goal of primarily or solely training obese clients. If possible, I want to do the vast majority of my training in the pool. The pool's my favorite part of any gym and I know that physical therapists often recommend aqua training for people with the kinds of complications that obese people tend to have, so it seems perfect. Well, mostly perfect. The main potential problem I see is that if a client has such terrible body image that simply entering a gym is a panic-inducing experience, then pool training may be a nonstarter--especially at a gym where the pool area is essentially a fishbowl.
Long-shot question, but do any of you work in this area?
