  • :49.69 in the 100 *** to break the 50 second barrier and the kid is junior and will be back next year. So Dressel lost a record.

    200 Medley Relay - Nice freestyle anchor! 3 Florida 1:22.94 - 1:23.24 q579 1) r:+0.63 Michael Taylor FR 21.63 2) r:0.19 Chandler Bray SO (23.86) 45.49 3) r:0.20 Mark Szaranek SR (20.45) 1:05.94 4) r:0.14 Caeleb Dressel SR (17.30) 1:23.24 Between the 50 and 200 free records - a sub :40 100 will make this quite the championships. ...Must be really amazing to see these swims in person. ...and Dressel goes a :42.8 in the 100 fly - taking it out under:20 - That's just nuts.

:49.69 in the 100 *** to break the 50 second barrier and the kid is junior and will be back next year. So Dressel lost a record. That was another jaw dropper. So was this. Three days after the record was set - another sub 1:30. 1 Townley Haas JR Texas 1:31.78 1:29.50N 194 20 r:+0.72 20.64 43.12 (22.48) 1:06.18 (23.06) 1:29.50 (23.32)
  • This meet might come down to the last relay... after diving, Texas is 6 up/4 down/2 milers, Indiana 4 up/3 down, Cal 6 up/1 down/2 milers. Indiana's lack of depth might come back to bite them but they have a 20 point cushion. Texas might have locked it up more or less with a better 200 fly performance but they underperformed there and Cal was lights out. NC St has 4 up/2 down and the top seed in the mile but that's not enough to make up their deficit, and Florida has just 3 up and some fringe milers. Three team race now.
  • I read the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and my local news"paper" pretty much every day. Every men's and women's "March Madness" basketball game gets at least a sentence in the sports section, yet none of these news outlets has had one word about this phenomenal meet.
  • The LA Times had two sentences about USC's winning relay...that's it! Didn't even identify the meet as the NCAA Championships. Sad...
  • Indiana's lack of depth might come back to bite them but they have a 20 point cushion. Yes, their depth might hurt them, but it is nothing short of amazing to think that Indiana is so close in the hunt with, I think, only 8 swimmers and 1 diver. Their points per person ratio is off the charts. Gotta believe this is going to be huge for their recruiting. Between how their men are swimming here, how well Lily King and their women did, and how well Zane Grothe is doing in their post-grad program, you know their recruiting efforts will yield more in the future.
  • Maybe we should all copy and send the results to our papers to let them know there is more to sports that march madness now !!!
  • Skip, took your advice. ..went to the mens ncaa championships...indescribable. .sarah t
  • The swimming was berzerk and kicked off by the fellow on the 10 meter tower who, at the beginning of the meet, played the stars spangled banner...trumpet..and then did a full gainer tuxedo and all....😎
