Okay Murphy's 43.49 is pretty stout. But I'd guess a rested shaved Dressel would be 44 mid or better.
Just a theory, but maybe he coasted that backstroke leg in order to throw the hammer down the ***-free portions. That's where he left the field in the dust.
I'd venture to say that he's easily capable of getting under :44 for 100 back given how strong his underwater kicks are.
....His coach much just be giddy watching this guy train.
