Face Down Floating - it will help your freestyle

Some swimmers have trouble with their legs sinking when they swim freestyle. Although the main cause of this tends to be keeping their head too high which causes the feet to sink, one other main cause is they are not balanced. In the water, our freestyle body is like a see-saw with our lungs as the folcrum. Watch this video - www.youtube.com/watch Challenge Exercise: Can you do this? Tip #1: Hold your breath the entire time you are floating face down. if you exhale, your entire body will sink.... Tip #2: The more body mass you can keep "above" your lungs, the easier it will be for your feet to stay close to the surface. In other words, think streamline. Tip #3: If you still have trouble getting into this position, it is likely because you have not figured out how to use your lower back, glutes, and hamstrings to "lift" your heels to the surface. If you can float face down like the video, your feet probably do not sink when you swim. Have fun with this little exercise. Paul
