Butterfly or butterfail?

So I'm still working on my butterfly. When I look at the store combination I see some people when extending their arms for pull, have their hands pointed down and some have their hands aimed to the side. I notice I go fasted with my hands ai d downward but would still like some input. #swimfasttrainharder #bemorelikeMG Just another Chicago Swimmer :)

  • Hands should be in the same position as you would be for freestyle. Think about how you use your arms and hands in free. IMHO +1, if you value the health of your shoulders. Olympians and young swimmers may not have issues with having their palms face out on fly; but, it will cause more stress on your shoulders. As a soon-to-be 55 year-old Masters swimmer, I value my physical health (and avoiding repetitive stress injuries) over speed. ;)
