Can swim fly in a free event, get a valid fly time?

Was going to swim the 200 fly at the Rowdy Gaines meet, but meet canceled due to Hurricane Matthew.
So there's a local swim meet this weekend, they offer the 200 free but not the 200 fly.
Can I swim fly in the freestyle event, and have the time submitted for a butterfly Top 10 consideration?
While you can't get an official (that is, top ten eligible) time for your 2fly, my understanding is that it would be suitable to use as a seed time for future meets, correct, Rob?
