How do you use challenges to motivate you?

Hello fellow swimmers! I'm curious to know how you use challenges that arise in your training or in your life to help motivate you along your swimming journey. These could be challenges that you have faced in life, or difficulties arising from your daily training conditions (water temps, sharing the pool with many different swimmers, pool closures, etc). I know that most of us have a story to tell here, so I'm looking forward to hearing yours if you are willing to share!

  • Here's an article I wrote for the Hudson Mohawk road runners club. Click on the title "25 Year Progress Report". http://www.hmrrc.com/ Mostly what motivates me is I have always been fit. There may have been a few years in my 20s that I was in just so-so condition. There has not been a time since age 30 though, that I was not in very good shape. So as life challenges presented themselves I was determined to remain fit. It's really as simple as that.
