Cupping for swimmers

I've been watching some meets on TV this weekend (Austin and Santa Clara) and notice that quite a few American swimmers have the cupping bruises/hickies on their backs and shoulders. Has anyone here tried that kind of muscle therapy? It looks painful! - Kari

  • I had cupping as part of my shoulder pre-surgery physical therapy and it left me feeling really good and without pain. The theory is that it pulls the muscle away from the bone a little and opens up circulation. It's Asian medicine and it worked for me.
