What are some possible ways/setups that I could take video of myself swimming? I want to have the flexibility to swim, review and try again on my own schedule. I don't have a waterproof camera, so I'm not limited in options. I'd like to get a simple one, though, and be able to secure it below the deck and above the deck. I know there was an article recently in Swimmer about the cameras themselves, which I'll look up, but I don't recall anything about devices to attach to the deck to self record.
I'm tempted to set up my iPad to do this because of the big screen but I don't know if it has enough depth of field to be useful as a stationary recording device.
Get a LifeProof case for your smartphone. They work great for exactly this purpose - you can shoot above and below the water with ease. I recently www.youtube.com/watch on filming best practices.
That was a GREAT video. I liked seeing the different options for propping it up underwater. Still need ideas for propping it up over the water but this is helping me think creative. Thanks!
