Variation in sets

Hey everyone- I've been swimming on my own for a bit just for fitness (no real interest to join a team) and I've been having a hard time coming up with interesting sets for myself. I usually just do 50's or 100's on :45 and 1:30 respectively, shooting for :30-:35 on 50's and 1:05-1:10 on 100's to get my heart rate up, which, believe it or not, gets VERY boring after 2 weeks. Can you guys share some ways that you make sets interesting for yourself, or if you're a coach, for your swimmers? Thanks in advance :)
