Kickboard question

I have been trying to get back into lap swimming after many years off. I've just been doing the kickboard to start off. I do freestyle kick and breaststroke kick and aim for a mile. It takes me about 42 minutes. The pool I use is short (44 laps=mile). Is this a good time for a mile only kicking?? I feel like I'm going so slow. I'm going to get goggles so I can start adding arms next week.

Well, I'm going to bite the bullet and try a full stroke tomorrow. It's hard for me to try a new thing bc I like being good at things. I randomly started kicking on a board before one of my water aerobics classes and realized I could get through the water pretty quickly. I like the precision of good form which I had really perfected with running, spinning and yoga. I feel like my control is going to go haywire with full-on swimming since my upper body is so much smaller and weaker than my lower body. Oh well!
