Achilles Tendon fatigue

I started using Zoomers a couple of months ago. Up until about 3 weeks ago, I thought they were great. I built up my yardage using them, never exceeding 6-800 yards per workout, and only twice a week. However, I started to get a sore achilles tendon on one foot, thereby limiting my use of them. I use them now for only about 600 yards per week freestyle, and not at all for back stroke. I stretch out my feet by rotating them from the ankles and flexing them several times a day. I find it bothers me even when I'm not wearing them, if I'm doing long sets, or several repeat sets, of free. Can anyone recommend some way to strengthen, or stretch, or otherwise overcome the fatigue and soreness of that tendon? Thanks.

I have achilles tendonitiswhich for me the main cause is high arches. I cannot wear any footed fin with an enclosed heel. I also avoid wearing "shoes" as much a possible, I wear sandals all the time. I have no problem with fins that have back straps like slim fins or PDF fins. The stretching that goes on from fins is from the top of the foot, using fins doesn't stretch the achilles tendon. The stretch that aggravates the tendon is one that over stretches it like you might do for breaststroke kick. I used to go to the steps in the pool and place the balls of my feet on the step and lower the heels down. That was too much stretch. If you have achilles tendonitis the problem that may aggravate it is pressure on the insertion site at the heel. Try a fin with no formed heel. There is a guy that is on the discussion board here named Rich who works for a company that has such a fin maybe he'll email you if he reads this. Or a Tritan PDF fin can be found on the total immersion web site
