is to be decided between the SW and New England, as can be seen in this article in swiminfo.com : swiminfo.com/.../3431.asp Hey Wayne, I wish you luck. NEM has some pretty good relays, though. What if they complain about all of the foreign swimmers (like me) at your meet? Actually, it sounds like fun. Maybe Pacific should get involved . . .

  • The Pacific Masters Swimming Committee took note of the center of Masters Swimming heading to the East. Below is a copy of the resolution unanimously passed by the Pacific Masters Swimming Committee: A Resolution by Michael Moore, Seconded by Rick Meier Winds Passing Unanimously at the Pacific Masters Swimming February monthly held February 20th, 2002 in Danville, California. "Pacific Masters noted that in Swim Info where Bob Seltzer said "You can make a pretty good case that New England is the center of master's RACING in the US." Pacific Masters looked into its heart of hearts and found that maybe the center of Masters Racing has moved east. "Pacific noted that Pacific could only get 325 at its short course meters championships (12 individual and two relay world records broken), New England Masters got almost 400 swimmers at its Short Course meters championships (11 individual and one relay world records broken). "Pacific noted that Seltzer said that "NEM averages a meet participation rate that is close to 50 percent of its members, compared to the USMS National average that probably is no better than 20%." (New England Masters has 1619 Masters), Pacific could only identify 1825 individual of its 9700 members on the roster who competed in swimming events in 2001. Those 1825 members only make up 19% of its membership not even making the 20% average of the rest of the LMSCs. "Pacific noted that it is not able to get 150 relays at a meet, as everyone has to be on the same club. (Pacific has over 100 clubs while New England has three masters clubs). "Pacific recognizes that perhaps the torch has passed to the East congratulates New England on becoming the center of Masters racing. Thousands of Pacific Masters members look forward to traveling to the Boston/New England area to compete in a future Masters Nationals." michael
