What are the descriptions of the 5 basic swimming strokes?
Parents
  • Backstroke - each arm pulls and recovers seperately as each leg kicks seperately on your back That's how nearly everyone (competitively) swims backstroke, but if you look at the rules the only requirement is you be on your back. You could use a double-arm recovery if you wanted. You could use a frog kick, etc. And the OP mentioned five strokes. Perhaps the "fifth" is individual medley (IM). An IM race is one where all four strokes are swum in succession.
