  • So you blame the walk instead of the training? Next time you need to incorporate stadium stairs into your workout – 1500 warmup, 3 sets of stadium sprints then an 800 for time. And by the way, congratulations on what us mere mortals would consider outstanding swims!:applaud::banana::applaud: Yes,doing stadium steps before an important race always helps my times(helping means going slower, right.) Very few people beat their seed times and I think the walking was a big part. One of the supposedly great things about the meet was the ease of transit with the subway stops being so close.Close is relative, taking the subway was another several rounds of stadium steps.
  • i skipped the 200 free because i didnt want to add another 3.3km of walking before my shot at the 50fly. i dont know that i walk that far in 3 days normally, never mind all of the stairs from the subway.

  • i skipped the 200 free because i didnt want to add another 3.3km of walking before my shot at the 50fly. i dont know that i walk that far in 3 days normally, never mind all of the stairs from the subway. I found that the walking took a lot out of me and that made it tough to swim fast. By the last day, my legs were shot and my backstroke times showed that. Everyone else was in the same pool/boat, though. The pools were very good, deep and fast, but it was more difficult to warm up/down than it should have been. No tent at the temporary pool could have been a disaster had it rained more, but the trees were sufficient and most people just walked over after a warmup. Meeting the swimmers from all different countries was a lot of fun and it is nice to finally associate some faces with names I've seen in my age group. I may go to another worlds, but this one was only a three hour drive from my house. I don't think I'll find another one so convenient unless they are in Boston at some point. The meet was good, the people were great, Montreal was fun to explore and easy to get to, so all in all, I'm happy with it.

Are requested split requests from the meet going to be uploaded in the Event Results Data Base? I think LMSC Top Ten Recorders need to know this answer soon so they can make sure the splits are included in the National Top Ten? Are split requests for initial distances of all individual events (excluding individual backstroke events) and for all relay lead-off splits going to be submitted on behave of all swimmers like what was was done at Santa Clara and College Park National meets for the USMS Top Ten? If split times from individual events will not be automatically included in the Event Results Data Base, should a request be made to webmaster@usms.org for the times to be added to the Event Results Data Base? Jim and I uploaded the Worlds results and will take care of submitting the results to USMS for inclusion in the USMS 2014 LCM Top 10. In addition, YES, the following split times will be submitted for USMS Top 10 inclusion: 1) All relay leadoff splits 2) All intermediate split times from all individual swims (example: from each 800 Free, the following splits will be submitted: 50, 100, 200, 400) This is the same procedure that was used with the Santa Clara and College Park USMS nationals results. Note that the above two categories of times will not be uploaded to the publicly-displayed event results database (rankings or individual results pages). If an individual swimmer wishes for certain splits to be included in the public display of the USMS event results (rankings and individual results pages), the swimmer or the Top10 Recorder should contact me and I will enter those splits for public viewing. Send those requests to: MeetResults (at) usms (dot) org. Anna Lea Matysek USMS Membership Director
