Just thought I would start a thread which didn't have deep philosophical overtones so that we all can have fun with the new forum software. Based upon personal experience, I will start a list of “You know you are a swimmer when …” with the following:
You know you are a swimmer when you leave work in the rain and you can smell the chlorine coming off of your hair.
Anyone care to add to the list?

You are at the pool for the express purpose of playing with your child and there are lap lanes lying completely empty and you think, "what a waste".

The intention was good but..........Nah.
That's just being a parent who swims.
A real swimmer, upon seeing empty lanes, would hire a lifeguard to babysit and would dive right into one of the empty lanes.
you have a section in your Bookmarks just for swimming sites.
you get psyched for long course season.
most people are excited to meet Tiger Woods or Michael Jordan but you get excited to meet Janet Evans(I still have her autographed picture).
You know you are a swimmer when...one morning you wake up and can't find your glasses, so you grab your prescription goggles. However, those start to get caught in your hair, so out comes a swim cap, just to help find the missing glasses.
Your husband, a nonswimmer, emails you first thing on a Monday morning to say that in reviewing your times on the USMS site, he had some specific questions regarding your IM times and placement. I didn't even know that he knew how to get to this site!
You know you're a swimmer when:
1) You look in your workout bag and you have about 7 pairs of goggles (and still can't find a pair you absolutely love) and 15 swim caps in various stages of decay
2) Your kids have "swimming" races while running around the house instead of playing cops and robbers, or ninjas or whatever.
