Just thought I would start a thread which didn't have deep philosophical overtones so that we all can have fun with the new forum software. Based upon personal experience, I will start a list of “You know you are a swimmer when …” with the following:
You know you are a swimmer when you leave work in the rain and you can smell the chlorine coming off of your hair.
Anyone care to add to the list?
Ha! Hiro, you are more insane than I. MORE!
....when you read Gold in the Water 10 times in 5 years.
....when you belong to 4 pools in your town!
....when you have pictures of Tom Wilkens, and Michael Phelps on your office desktop!
....when your one true dream--the ultimate adventure--is to swim the English Channel solo.
... when you can swim two miles in a workout no problem, but can hardly run half a mile without getting out of breath (Guess what I did when the pool was closed this morning?)
How did you know this was me?
You know you are a swimmer when your ocean swim buddies are two barracudas and a spotted ray and they draft off of you.
You know you are a swimmer when driving a car you can smell chlorine a half-mile away. I found a 50 meter pool yesterday when I followed the chlorine smell. But it's closed for the summer (dang!).
When you run into your teammates at the grocery store and say, "Wow. I didn't recognize you in your clothes!" as other shoppers stop in their tracks, mouths agape, upon hearing this.
Where did I see that story before????
When you run into your teammates at the grocery store and say, "Wow. I didn't recognize you in your clothes!" as other shoppers stop in their tracks, mouths agape, upon hearing this.
...you smile at the slight chlorine smell of a recently wet suit inside your car at the end of a long day at work.
...you get to see a lunar eclipse on the deck before early morning workout but get in the water anyway. (I kept checking in between sets for fun)
...you're not bothered by folks in silly golf clothes giving you funny looks as you leave the pool wild-haired and bedraggled in the early morning.

I know I'm not one...yet. But we are planning a trip to the mountains (NC) and all my daughter (3 yo) wants to do is swim in the hotel pool. There is hope!
