Just thought I would start a thread which didn't have deep philosophical overtones so that we all can have fun with the new forum software. Based upon personal experience, I will start a list of “You know you are a swimmer when …” with the following:
You know you are a swimmer when you leave work in the rain and you can smell the chlorine coming off of your hair.
Anyone care to add to the list?

your 3 year old daughter asks you that if the guy's name is Popov on that swim vedio clip when you are watching it.
Your on vacation, in a chic spot relaxing around a very nice but strangely shaped pool with a bar where most of the people are laying on chairs tanning wearing gold lame swim suits and you see a person getting in the pool with a cap and goggles , who starts swimming laps ,and you see them as "a swimmer" not a "exercise freak" and you go to your room to get your cap and goggles and join them for a swim in a pool with turns and bends in it, and you have a good swim!
I just love it. This thread has to be the longest running one. It will soon be 5 years old (Feb 2007)!
How about: ... when your spouse comes home from the pool, you appreciated the smell of chlorine more than you would perfume/cologne.

You know you're a swimmer when you go to work sans socks (or underwear, a belt, wearing pool sandals, etc.) because you forgot to bring them to morning practice.
You Know You're A Swimmer When:
1. Your parents bought you a car when you turned 16 not to be nice but because they were tired of getting up at 4 AM to take you to practice, and then having to leave work early to take you again at 4 PM.
2. You had the same hairstyle for your whole swimming career - SHORT.
3. When friends asked what salon you tanned at, you laughed at them.
4. You couldn't wait to get out of class and get to practice EARLY to hang out with your friends before dryland.
5. For girls, your stomach still doesn't tan as well as the rest of your body.
6. You've been horribly devasted from a terrible loss, and know the glory and pride that comes from a win.
