Just thought I would start a thread which didn't have deep philosophical overtones so that we all can have fun with the new forum software. Based upon personal experience, I will start a list of “You know you are a swimmer when …” with the following:
You know you are a swimmer when you leave work in the rain and you can smell the chlorine coming off of your hair.
Anyone care to add to the list?

You know you are a swimmer when you love the glass-like stillness of a pool and you are the first to make ripples....the water just seems so smooth at that time
You know you are a swimmer when you push off for the first time and you enter into another world all your own.
How's this for being over the top...
Someone at work makes a comment about another woman possessing "bought and paid for" body parts, and you don't understand that she is talking about surgical enhancements because you can't imagine spending money on something that would slow you down in the pool...
The principal walks into your classroom and the 1st grade "exercise leader" is conducting a series of rotator cuff stregthening maneuvers while you follow along with hand weights...
Your husband asks your daughter what mom is doing and she replies, "oh, she's flailing around like a fish out of water in front of the mirror again."
Your idea of a perfect day includes several hours at the gym and then shopping for a new Nike or TYR suit.
What makes Lane 5 so special? It seems that most Masters Swimmers prefer Lane 5 over any other lane.
You definitely know you're a swimmer when you have a preferred lane. I know I've said it before, but I couldn't resist. Lane 5 is definitely one of those special lanes.

Oooohhhh yeah! There's nothing like a flat pool... Being the first one at the pool is a wonderful thing...
...it means I get Lane 5 for myself!
YEAH! Lane 5 is my favorite too!
You know you are a swimmer when you GET SWIM GEAR FOR CHRISTMAS period.
You know your a swimmer when the thought of swimming while they are having a b-day party at your pool doesn't faze you a bit even as you dodge the noodles and tidal waves. For some reason the sound of screaming kids doesn't effect me the same way at the pool.
You know you're a swimmer when swimming on your Birthday is the best gift you can give yourself.
When I turned 26 last month, I did just that. I swam on my birthday.
