Chlorine Lung Damage??

my daughter is up at night coughing the last 2-3 weeks from swim practice and yesterday said her chest hurt? does anyone know about possible lung damage? bronchitis? pneumonia? from swimming pool indoors? and what can you do to help the school fix this w/o getting pool closed and cancelling swim season?

  • I don't think that the problem is in excessive chlorination that would rather hurt mucous membrane than lungs. The fact that your daughter caught infection might mean that chlorination is insufficient. You should go to the doctor, asap, because some kinds of pneumonia which can be caused by infection from water like Legionella are very dangerous. I don't want to scare you but check up with the specialists is better thing to do in this case than asking advice on the forum.
