She just turned nine and is heading to the junior olympics this weekend. Without breaking the bank, which racing suit would you recommend? Thank you
  • She is nine. Don't over think, buy the pink one.
  • My daughter loved this one: www.swimdownhill.com/id66.html (and I loved the price)
  • Unless pink will make her look funny, a hated thing by youngsters of all ages ! Maybe something she thinks is fun looking. Ask her !

I'd figure you it wouldn't matter too much for a 9 year. I agree with the person above, a nice one piece pink suit should do the trick. Just make sure it fits right and you should be good to go.
  • At a recent age-group meet (NOT the age group sectionals, or even the state championships) out here, I saw several 10/u girls wearing B70s, Arena Carbon Pros, etc. The mind boggles. Then I heard that the head coach of one of the clubs wants all their swimmers to wear the best suit they can afford.... Don't most clubs have a policy about not wearing tech suits in non-champs meets?! Wouldn't an aquablade tank do for a 10&U? Not a good idea to teach tech suit dependency at a super young age. You should at least wait until you're a master to be a tech suit addict. :-)
  • ... Wouldn't an aquablade tank do for a 10&U? ... Agree. Definitely a classic style suit. IMO there are a lot of reasons for not getting kneeskins. 1) Sends wrong message - swimming fast should be about swimming, not a suit - see Fort's comment. 2) Probably impossible to find a pair that fit and poorly fitting kneeskins are definitely going to be worse than a well-fitting classic suit. 3) Too expensive. This is why I suggested the Yingfa. It's "techy" enough to feel special - like you are getting ready for something big, but doesn't cost more than the typical team suit.

  • thanks, but my daughter hates pink. but I get the idea. I went with a Speedo endurance but may get the aquablade. Yea, at 9 a tech suit is a total waste of money. Good call! I would bet the Speedo Endurance will last longer than your daughter at that size! She'll outgrow it before it wears out; it's a very tough suit. As for her taste in colors: :agree:
