Help,
When ever I try to do kick board drills, I literally go backwards. And my 7 year old splashes me in the face every time she passes me.
Really, I have had coaches watch and all I get is "point your toes", and laughed at.
I think I would be a better swimmer if my kick would move me forward instead of fighting my arms.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
The "point your toes" advice is probably correct. The only backwards kickers I've had in practices are not pointing the whole time - they inadvertently flex their foot on the downkick (which serves to hold them in place or make them go backwards). You might try working with fins or Zoomers for awhile to increase your ankle flexibility so you can really point your toes. You'll get better eventually!
