Looks like it is to gain 20 minutes of rest before doing the 400 IM.
What do you folks think? Fair play or not?
I say anyone attempting the 1650 and 400 IM back to back deserves some slack.

Chowmi, when I'm faced with deep, profound, life-altering questions like this, "Should I eat the Swedish Fish before workout?" I just pause and ask myself WWRLD? I don't ask myself, like the SWIMMER article did, WWGWGD (http://athleticfoodie.com/). We know Garrett wouldn't eat the swedish fish, But, Ryan? Oh, yeah, he'd eat the fish. In fact, I heard him interviewed and he answered that question thusly, "Uhhhhhhhh (very long pause), you know YOLO man, so JEAH! like as long as you're gonna be a man in the morning, you gotta eat the swedish fish. (another pause) Did I say JEAH?"
