Looks like it is to gain 20 minutes of rest before doing the 400 IM.

I say anyone attempting the 1650 and 400 IM back to back deserves some slack.

I may have paraphrased Chris' hyperbole incorrectly. Instead of saying sandbagging is "tantamount" to terrorism and infanticide, I should have said that it is "as invalid as." Ban it, ban it, ban it! The trick is in communicating that ban to the 100s of sandbagging men, you and Stud excepted of course.
My vice remains potato chips. Swedish fish are unappealing.
